Do You Need Vitamin E?
"After this research, I make sure I take my Vitamin E regularly. " Dr. Joe
Vitamin E* serves as an important antioxidant function of the body, which means it prevents free radicals from attacking and damaging cell membranes. DNA is particularly susceptible to damage from free radical attack. Free radicals can be associated with aging and degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Evidence indicates it has anticancer properties for G.I. concerns and a lower incidence of prostate cancer.
Vitamin E is
- an antioxidant
- it inhibits coagulation
- strengthens capillary walls
- stabilizes cell membranes
- prevents the pituitary (master gland of body), thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones from being oxidized.
Vitamin E is also described as being a positive influence on age-related immune and inflammatory changes. A study showed Vitamin E and micro nutrients slowed down the onset and progression of age related macular degeneration and has the potential to inhibit the development of diabetic retinopathy. It may also play a role in delaying cataract formation.
Many products on the market state "natural" but are not - you need the proper Vitamin E for optimum results.
*If you are on blood thinner, check with your primary care physician before taking Vitamin E.
